About the event

Join fellow storytellers for a six-week writing workshop celebrating the mystery and majesty of Gloucester Harbor. Open to all—whether you're a lifelong writer or have never put pen to paper, this safe, positive, and fun workshop will guide you from story idea to finished piece, culminating in a published collection of Gloucester Harbor tales. Each session begins with storytelling, followed by short craft lessons from Maile (and occasional guest experts) on topics like description, structure, dialogue, and character—then dedicated writing time. The workshop runs Thursdays, 5-6:30pm, October 8 through November 19, 2026 (10/8, 10/15, 10/22, 10/29, a short break for drafting, then 11/12 and 11/19, with the final two sessions devoted to workshopping and revision), at Maritime Gloucester's classroom, 23 Harbor Loop. BYOB and snacks welcome! Cost is $200, covering room rental, book production, and two copies of the published collection—additional copies available at cost.
