About the event

In Summer of 2025, Jim and dorymate, Sarah LeWine, are embarking on a 600-mile journey from Gloucester, MA to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Gloucester's sister fishing port in the maritime provinces of Canada.

Jim Tarantino has been rowing dories for over 40 years, and by spring he will have his own authentic Grand Banks Dory called the "Heart o' Gloucester,"  giving him the chance to take  the journey and continue to share with the community the rich maritime history and unique character of Gloucester Harbor Gloucester Harbor. Jimmy has a "Yes!" to anyone--local or visitor-- who asks for a harbor row.

Come hear a brief history of the Grand Banks Dory and its role in making Gloucester the fishing capital of the World for nearly 200 years, and hear from Sarah and Jim about the latest updates on the build, preparation, and plans for the summer journey of the Heart o' Gloucester!
