Legacy Revisited

Join filmmakers Jim and Laura Lowell for a viewing of their 2000 film “Legacy: Shipbuilders, Fishermen, and the Age of Gloucester Schooners”. Stunning footage and lively narration tell the story of this iconic rig. In this now 21-year-old production, you can enjoy the in-depth commentary and schooner lore from the late Joe Garland and Dana Story, among shipwrights, educators, and local leaders. This is the story of Essex and Gloucester’s relationship to the legendary Gloucester fishing schooner. Jim and Laura will co-host the evening with local historians Justin Demetri and Daisy Nell. After the film, there will be a brief discussion of changing times and future scenarios for these classic rigs. The format will allow a Q & A segment in real-time.
