About the event

Come join us with a talk by Lena Börjesson from Sweden. Lena teaches low tech navigation and sailing with traditional square rigged boats at Fosen Folkehøgskole in Norway. She has also been an instructor on various Scandinavian viking boats and sailed more than 2000 nm of trial trips to gain experience on how the Viking age sailors may have found their way over the Northern Atlantic Ocean, with and without any navigational tools. In her talk she will give an overview of existing theories on Viking navigational techniques. She will also show the results of her Viking age navigation trials and discuss how they confirm or question the theories. This lecture is open to the public with a suggested donation of $10. Door open at 5:30, lecture starts at 6.
