WE LOVE OUR VOLUNTEERS!

Maritime Gloucester needs your talent and time! Becoming a volunteer will help Maritime Gloucester provide the best programs and experiences to our members, visitors, and community.

We offer 4 unique volunteer roles to suit your interests and our diverse set of needs. We ask that everyone attend one volunteer training session before they begin volunteering with us. We ask that volunteers volunteer with us at least two times per month during our busy June-October season but we will happily take you for more time.

To get started please read the descriptions of the different volunteer roles and fill out the below application, selecting the role that best suits your interests. Feel free to contact us with any additional questions at info@maritimegloucester.org.

Museum Interpreter

People person?  Have a love for Gloucester’s diverse history and maritime heritage?  For this role we ask you to be prepared to greet visitors and provide basic interpretation of Maritime Gloucester’s indoor exhibits and resources.  Hours are flexible, but most needed in the summer season.

Waterfront Interpreter

Are you a people person and particularly interested in Maritime Gloucester's working waterfront? This role takes you down to the docks to interact with the general public, educate people on our waterfront history and current maritime happenings. We will also ask you to make people aware of all of the other great exhibits on the rest of our campus.

Event and Rental Volunteer

Interested in helping to support Maritime Gloucester look great and deliver on our signature events?  We seek support staff to help us during events such as pop-up education programs, fundraisers, membership events, and outside rental of our facilities. Some lifting may be needed, but not required.  This role may include setting up chairs or tables, manning memberships tables, checking in guests, coordinating information booths, cleaning up after events, and/or working with vendors or guests during events.

Volunteer General

Are you more interested in working behind the scenes? Do you have a particular talent that you think would be helpful to us? We have a running list of other tasks that need to happen around our campus and we would welcome your help. These tasks may include but are not limited to carpentry, painting, admin work, gardening, education supply organization, etc.
