“What we are missing and what's really important for us as humans, is that multisensory visceral experience that moves us, literally moves us, because that's the only way we can really experience something, is with all our senses in our bodies,” she [Erika] said. “That's when some little bit of a shift happens.
Our world becomes a little bit bigger.” --- Colchester Sun, Oct 2023
Artist Erika Senft Miller rows a traditional dory in Gloucester Harbor with Jimmy Tarantino.
After years of working on this project and collaborating with many awe-inspiring people through my residency in Gloucester, MA, at Manship Artists Residency, this multisensory installation will open May 10th at 5:30pm and will be open through May 27th, Thursday-Sunday and Holidays from 4:30pm-7:30pm. Located in the pink building at 52 Commercial St, Gloucester (behind Mom's Kitchen).
Through sounds, smells, touch, and things that inhabit Gloucester's working waterfront, we invite you to experience and interact with the tender human moments at the heart of the Gloucester fishing community.
This project is the result of a community effort undertaken by a diverse, hardworking, generous, and talented group of friends, allies, and contributors hailing from points around the world and converging in Gloucester.
The Tickets
Due to the nature of the first part of the installation, tickets are limited to 6 people at a time every 10 minutes. Once through the first portion you will not be limited in your time to experience the full installation.
Tickets are free and limited so we ask you to please contact us to cancel if you can no longer make your reserved time so that others can take your place.
We understand that the times of the tours may not work for all groups so Erika will be available for private tours with priority given to educational groups, artists and corporate groups. Please email erika@erikasenftmiller.com.
